Southeast area (Cape Girardeau) newbie needs some advice

Second time to try crappie fishing.
Place: Jackson City park.
Nothing got, but 2 bass (good at bass fishing, :) )

1st time: Red star conservation area.
Nothing.

What I use:
6' ugly stick GX2 M action. (already purchase new UL rod from BPS)
Line: 4LB Mono
Lure: roadrunner jighead with bobber.

No bite at all.

In the fall season, which part of pond should I looking for?
Where did you guy fishing at cape girardeau area?
Is there any good pond near cape?

Welcome to the board from Jackson. Local crappie fishing is pretty slim around here. I don't even know of crappie being in Rotary Lake in the Jackson City Park. There has always been a good bass population in there and they stock rainbow trout every year in November but I haven't heard of any crappie caught there. Your best bet locally (and it's not even a great choice) is Lake Girardeau in Crump. There are black crappie stocked there and the Conservation Dept. has several brush piles and other habitat sunk there. There are also two fishing docks with structure around them. Good Luck. I google Rotary lake from MDC website.
They said there are some crappie.

Try looking up Mantz conservation area on the MDC website
It's out by Oak Ridge
Used to catch a few out there they have a small pond and a larger one that I have fished
There r no docks or boat ramps but a small john boat or canoe would work there
Electric motor only though
If fishing from the bank there were some small brush piles at the end of the jetty
We used minnows and corks bout 12-18 inches deep
Also bass catfish and bluegills in there too

Twappity in chaffee is a conservation lake. I have crappie there and it has a walking trial around it with brush in the water.
