I know this has been discussed before but where can I get shiners.....first time to bring my boat to fish......
also, Doc, for charging your boat batteries, is there a plug in at the curb or do I have to run a wire back to the cabin.....I got a 100 footer, 25 and a 50.........

bruce--there are two places that i get my shiners when i buy shiners at darbonne. the first in closer to jakes. it is called anderson's. 318.368.9669. it is on hwy 2 east of hwy 33 going toward the walmarts on the left at the bottom of the hill.
the second is the place just on the state park side of the hwy 2 bridge. i don't have a number for them. but they both should have shiners.
there is an outlet at the curb where we park the boats. i would say the 50 footer should be plenty, but if it were me i would bring the long one just in case.

PS, the cabins I've been in have a pole with plugs near the parking area of each cabin, so should be good there.
I've found 3 spots to buy shiners, assuming they're still available there.
1) There's a new gas station/convenience store on the right heading into Farmerville...I think it's a Chevron, and they had them. Lots of pumps on the outside, so you should see it.
2) Small bait store on Hwy2 heading East off 33 toward the Walmart. Think it's called Andersons, but last time he never showed up that AM to open...dunno about that one.
3) the convenience store beside the Hwy 2 bridge over the lake. It's on the right as you head to the state park, just on the far side of the bridge. Can't miss it.
Maybe someone in the area can confirm availability of shiners... :)
The store next to the Hwy 2 Bridge is called Lesters on The Lake. Phone# 318-368-8097. They open at 6:00 A.M. The hwy 2 location is Mr. Anderson's and he has been having health issues the past year and sometimes it affects his opening time. Shiners are delivered to the Farmerville area around noon on Fridays. Both have the same selection of shiners, but might want to give them a call if you need them earlier. Normally they have them all week unless there's a big demand, which I doubt is the case this week.

prefers shiners, I don't know the route you are taking to get to D'Arbonne, but if you are coming up 167 to Ruston and then taking HWY 33 up to Farmerville; there is a convenience store about 3 mile north of I-20. It is on the left and is at the end of the four-lane where the road necks back down to two lanes. They sell shiners there by the pound, which is a much cheaper way to buy them. They will put them in a plastic bag and fill it with oxygen too. I plan to pick up a few for Johnathan, yea right LOL, when I go through there Friday morning. I don't remember the name of the store, but I have never stopped there when they didn't have shiners. As a matter of fact, they usually have several different sizes to choose from.
The store 3 miles out of Ruston is called Cransfords. They have a lot of Tackel and that is where I always get my Shiners..... The New station on 33 just above the lake has Non- Ethenoil fuel and about 8 Lanes open. The Indians that run it usually have one person behind the counter, with the heavy Counter trafic the station has, shiners took their man off the Register every time someone wanted bait
