Santee 10/16-17/2014
The conditions were less than favorable on Thursday with a stiff 15 mph wind blowing most of day, but I was able to ride the waves to success and boat a decent limit if fish using minnows over brush in the 12 to 15 foot range. On Friday Tommy and I hit the water together. A slight breeze welcomed us in the early morning hours, but subsided to nearly nothing for a 3 hour window. We chose to fish the dead standing timber out in the middle of the lake using tight lined minnows on a single hand held pole. The fish didn't jump in the boat on every tree, but enough did to keep us hunting. We ended the day with 30 pretty nice fish with a good many being quality white crappie. We focused in waters 22 to 25 feet deep. It is again getting near my slow down period, the fish are moving off the brush and beginning to scatter with the cooler water and air temps. I'll be fishing less, and tinkering around the house trying to get a few odds and ends completed before the early spring bite rolls in. I'll still fish every so often, just not weekly as I am doing now. Stay after them and keep those reports coming!

Good job fellows, as usual. I guess the fish will be glad to see you give them a break.
I fished the Secession outing and had a crappie bout swallow a RT309 to his belly. Caught him casting toward shore so as we were tight lining minnows.
Fishing was slow because of the cold rain earlier and had the fish off their feed, but we managed few.

Great catch and report Tim & Tommy. Thanks for posting all your reports through the summer and for keeping the fire burning for others wanting to get out on the water and try their luck on the hot weather crappie bite.

Great report and pictures as alway Tim. We'll miss the weekly reports, but I'm already looking forward to your Spring reports when you get fired back up. Thanks for sharing.
