Hey guys I need a little help I fish Logan every spring and do very well long line trolling in the Clear creek area but I have never fished it in the fall. I will be there in the middle of November so I don't have any idea on how to fish for crappie this time of the year. Will trolling still be the way to go or do I need to change things up? Thanks for the help.
I personally do not long line in the fall but have heard of folks doing it. It should be worth a try. In the fall I spider rig and cast jigs and shoot jigs under docks. You may want to try going across the river and fish the Rabbit Branch and Coosa Island areas, there are lots of docks over there plus lots of house boats that you can fish around. I normally catch the fish deeper in the fall most of the time but have caught them shallow a few times. Let us know how it turns out for you.:fish

I fished Logan Martin twice this week. Had fair days. The water temps are still high, but if you're coming in Nov, you should hit it just right. I was fishing docks. The docks should be on fire by November. They are pretty good now. there are a lot of small fish right now, you have to work to get a lot of keepers. but by Nov, the big ones should be under the docks. but if long-lining's your thing, don't be scared to try it.
Just fished a crappie tournament on Logan last weekend and tried long lining for an hour and a half without a whiff but I'm still working on my craft. Like Roger A said, spider rigging and dock shooting will probably produce better. Just look for brush in 12-15 F.O.W. for spider rigging or single pole. From past experience, docks need to hold at least 10' F.O.W for shooting. Good luck.

Fished Tuesday and caught 13 crappie and lots of catfish and bass. Spider rigging ledges with cover at 14 feet. We had to fish right in the cover to get a crappie. Water temps were 69-70.
Last year i did great in december long lining in 15 to 25 feet of water. going to give it a try this morning. will post if i do any good!
