Yep, sad indeed!!
I used to work in IT for Hilton. Hilton got bought out by a company called Blackstone in 2007 and by 2008 they had outsourced all their IT to India and laid off everybody in my department. I was lucky and landed at FedEx wondering why I didnt make the move sooner.
The funny part is, whoever they outsourced to in India could never successfully implement or support any of the technology that had been developed "in house" prior to the outsourcing and Hilton ended up having to pay a ton of money to purchase and implement a far inferior "out of the box" solution because the company they hired to run their IT were so incompetent. I am hearing from a couple of my old friends there that they have now realized their error and are starting to bring some of the IT stuff back "in house".
It's our own fault for buy their garbage!!!!
