Pallet houses for crappie

I am a fire protection inspection and on my journeys to different highrise buildings and office buildings, I have access to a lot of pallets. I just starting making pallet houses to sink. Takes 3 pallets to make and are quick to assemble. I use plastic zip ties to connect the 3 pallets into a triangle. put the first one in the water, it will float. then you can fastened the other 2 pallets to it using the zip ties. I have a lot of busted up chunks of concrete to use to weigh them down with from a construction site. they were removing a parking lot to build a hotel. just throw 2 or 3 pieces on the bottom pallet and thar she goes! only takes a couple of minutes to do it by yourself. wonder if anyone has tried these? if so, how'd they work? I dropped 2 of this kind along with 3 pallet stakebeds in the same spot. Cant wait to see what they will produce. i also tie a float with a slip knot to the first one i drop to make sure i can see exactly where it lands. Then i can drop the others close to it. a little pulling on the float and the string comes free so it stays hidden. easier than using a marker buoy. gives exact location of where it is on the bottom.

Very nice addition....with pallets, you can also just stack them on top of each other and put in shallower water, and near the Crappie cover, to attract and hold small minnows and baitfish, once algae starts to grow, it will "kick off/start" the basic food chain (micro - organisms, zooplankton, crawdads, etc....this will create a feeding station and keep drawing Crappie around permanently, if you have a good location.
If the pallets are not made of hardwood and made with a softer wood, such as pine, you will have to supplement every few years, due to faster deterioration.

There are 2 thoughts with pallets: ease of dropping vs MAXIMUM productivity. Have helped assemble 2 plain pallets stood up with heavy wire joining them and with a HEAVY (18") block on each end. So so resulting vertical cover. The 3 pallet (triangle) method with the 4 cement blocks on each corner and a "C" tree secured inside produced OUTSTANDING results, but was difficult to load, and "splash". HOWEVER, between putting out 10 verticals or just 1 "triangle", for sheer REULTS would do the 1 triangle. To successfully "splash" the triangle a pontoon is required... btw, keep in mind that except on mud bottoms those 4 blocks also allow fish UNDER the triangle too...and do also realize both types are as `stealthy` to most sonars as a mouse turd is in a bowl full of white sugar...

BTW, rarely ever got to fish my "triangle" pallet set. There was almost ALWAYS some other person fishing it...

Too heavy for me , I use stakes nailed to my pallets. Verticle stakes on a single pallet are lighter , less hang ups and less weights to sink.

I dropped a couple of your pallet stake beds in there with the A-frames. Gonna drop a couple c-trees and some PVC in there also. Should get a 50x50ft area covered when I'm done.

Do a search on stake beds or pallet stake beds and you will see lots of photos.:biggrin
