New to SC and need a lot of info. I wanted to get your feelings, if you have any, about whether or not it would be worth the $85 to get a sticker to fish Lake Bowen for crappie?
Thanks

85 may sound high but if you live close to the lake what you will save in gas it won't take but two or three trips to pay for the cost of the permit. From the reposts I have seen from the lake it seems to have some good fish.
I agree w/ STUMP JUMPER. The closest lake to me is Moss in Kings Mountain, NC. It cost $100, annually, for a boat permit and two fishing permits, but it's only ten minutes away and I buy the permits every year. I used to work in Gaffney (ten or twelve years ago) and fished Bowen and Blalock often. They were both good fishing lakes. If I remember right, Bowen had little in the way of structure and cover other than boat docks while Blalock had tons of drop offs, channel bends, brush and stumps and few (if any) docks. Blalock was cheaper, but had a 15 horsepower limit. Everything I know about both lakes has probably changed by now.
Blalock and Bowen are two of my favorite lakes to fish. The permit fee is a little steep but to have two nice fishing lakes nearby it well work hit.
