Anybody had to wear a heart monitor & do a stress test?
Two weeks ago, out of nowhere, I began having chest pressure and felt hot and clammy sweaty all over...........while sitting at my desk at school. It passed, but happened again later on at home so I went to my doctor. He put me on a heart monitor for 30 days.
Felt a few flutters, but last Friday at my son's football game, I thought I might have to go talk to the EMTs in the ambulance. Felt really really bad, but it passed. Came home and felt nothing until Tuesday at school. Again, felt bad. I called my doctor and he said wait until the 30 days was up.
The heck with that! I called the Arkansas Heart Hospital Tuesday afternoon and they set me up an appointment for Wednesday morning. THAT'S what I'm talking about! They really put me through the tests yesterday, but everything came back normal. Was kinda scared of the nuclear stress test, but I jogged right through 9 minutes on that treadmill with no pain, tightness, or any trouble. My cardiologist called this morning and told me that everything was fine and I didn't need to wear the monitor anymore. He advised me to lose weight and exercise more often.
It turned out fine, BUT it's scary when you think you may have ticker trouble. I'm not 20 and bulletproof anymore. I'm 45 and 272 lbs.
Doc also says that my problem is either stress, anxiety, or heartburn or a combination. I'm prescribing either a fishing or squirrel hunting trip this Saturday! Looking forward to it!
I also want to add that if any of you are having cardiac symptoms, don't ignore them. Go do what I did. Call the Heart Hospital and see someone! GTT
