Pamona 9/30
Hit the water at 0730 checked piles along river channel lots of shad not crappie, tried a few no luck. Ran up and dipped trees lots of gar shad, no crappie. Hit Dragon creek channel again lots of shad everywhere no crappie. Decided to head in talk to a guy fishing of a dock there in the boat ramp cove he told us the white bass were chewing on the East bank, he was right wore out out arms catching the whites. Fun but not much for the table.

I love the weather we have been having the last 3 weeks and during late winter, spring, and summer long stretches of nice stable weather really seem to help the bite but imo this time of year we need some fronts and colder temps to cool water temps down and get the fish to sense some urgency to start putting on the feedbag and give us a good fall bite. I have not been on any of the larger corp lakes since labor day weekend but have been hitting smaller community lakes in NE Kansas and the bite is still more like a mix of a late summer fall bite. It has been slow but had some great days immediately following that cold front that brought several nights of mid to high 30's temps 3 weeks ago. They started to take off and bunch up then more long stretches of warm stable weather has produced a poor bite with fish scattered. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it until it gets colder lol! Hopefully it picks up after the cooler temps for the weeked.
