How to make tubes?
Well guys and gals, I have once again been bitten by the crappie bug. About a year ago I sold all my stuff off but a rod and reel. I'm wanting to get back fishing and need tubes. I would like to make my own tubes, so I need some advice from you pros on how to go about making em.

what style skirts are you looking for I could either make them for you or tell you how to make them we have commercial molds to make them precut in the mold they would be at inch and a half.
you could use metal rods and dip them in hot plastic and you will have a tube and take a razor blade and cut the tale you are wanting a head color dip it in a color and that's all there is to it you could use different size rods to get a bigger body.
if you're wanting prices send me a PM.

I use the latter method that Snake River suggests. Be sure to coat your rod with Pam then dip it in the plasti several times. I have a separate pyrex jar of water on another table to cool the rod and plastic tube. When cool trim to a 2" length and cut your tail skirt with a razor blade.

Thanks guys, the rod method will be the route I go. Roughly how many times do u dip it.

I dip mine about three times. Four if I am adding a 2nd color. I do not sell these as it is a time consuming process. They are just for personal use. Then I cool in water, remove from the rod, cut to size and then cut the skirt. Use a sharp safety razon with the blade on one end and the metal bar at the top. Might save your fingertips. Personally, a good 2" Minnow mold produces more lures faster and catches as many fish to eat. Remember big fish eat little fish.
