I have a 997 and 998 both have their own transducers an GPS antennas. I want to link them to share waypoints. What do I need? Also want to keep both transducers as one is on the bow the other on trolling motor. I think I'm going to have to get rid of one antenna. 1 more thing both units have waypoints on them how do I keep all these waypoints? Thanks for any help

I was hoping someone running an Interlink would have answered your question ...(I only have one unit and don't know a lot about the Interlink module)...
The 997 can only be Interlinked as it does not have ethernet connectivity...
With Interlink ... Only NAV data can be shared...each unit needs its own xducer...
(1 GPS antenna can be used by both units using the AS SYSLINK cable)...
Interlink actually copies waypoints from 1 unit to the other....(Ethernet only "sees each other's" waypoints)...
So ... I think once the Interlink is connected ... Each unit's waypoints will copy to the other unit...

They will Rickie if everything is set up to “share”. One thing about going this route is that both units need to be running the same software level number (the number before the period) or they may not communicate. The last software version for the 997 was 6.300 while the last for the 998 units is 7.090 I think. That means that the 998 unit would have to run older software on it if it can (loading an older version of software into a unit could potentially “brick” the unit).
Thanks for the help fellas. I''ll check an see what version they're running. I know I have an SD card with 6.300 wrote on it so it's possible their both running that version.
I'm scared of losing my waypoints an sure don't want to "brick" my unit. Don't know what that means but doesn't sound good
