LittleJohn ... I'll probably be at Cave Run this Sat.
Let me know how you do, how deep, and if you don't mind ... "where" you fished. You can PM me with any details that you don't want to share to the "lurkers".
Never Crappie fished Cave Run this time of year, and never EVER fished in the river part, so I'm runnin' blind !!
One other question, if you might know ... how safe is my truck & trailer, if parked at the Twin Knobs ramp ?? Or would I be better off parking at the Marina ramp ??
... cp :kewl
CP it sure is a shame that we have to worry about things like this, but it;s become a fact of lifeQuote:

CP you won't have a problem at the Cave you could park and put in anywhere and be safe. All ramps are patrolled I have used them all numerous times and at all hours never had a problem.
Thanks, Powertroll ... that's been my past experience, as well, but it's been quite a few years since I've been back to Cave Run and there have been instances where such shenanigans have taken place.
I also want to correct myself, as I've been calling the ramp I normally use as the "Twin Knobs Ramp" .... when actually it's the Alfrey Ramp that I've been referring to  (the one that is out on the main lake, and not the one across from the marina).
I'm taking my friends Carl/Lisa Crappie fishing, for Carl's Birthday ... (his choice of lakes) ... and since I haven't been to Cave Run in years, and never this time of year for Crappie, I'm kinda at a loss as to where the fish would likely be. We'll likely be casting jigs & SpiderRigging minners around downed trees .... and maybe even try the edges of the grass beds. Any recommendations as to depth & areas of the lake that have been productive lately, would be greatly appreciated. And I'd also suggest sending such info to me by PM.

Well ... we tried :biggrin
Water temps were ~75deg everywhere we went. I caught 2 Black Crappie ... 1 @ 10" and 1 @ 12" .... downed trees on main lake bank in around 28' of water, on a minner & jig tipped with a minner. Both fish released.
Seeing as how it was National Boating/Fishing Day .... no day pass was required :woohoo

& it was a great day to be outside. We spent the day on the river.
