Old School electronics--Lowrance x510C issue
I have a 788DI and 898 on my boat but I still rely heavily on a Lowrance x510C color fishfinder on my console when trolling cranks or longlining. A couple of years ago it would stop working for a few minutes when the ambient temperature was hot. It would be working fine then act like the power was turned off. After a period as long as an hour it would power right back up and work fine. Occasionally it would quit more than once on a long fishing day.
Yesterday I was out for a while and the ambient temp was in the mid 70s. The 510 powered up fine then stopped shortly after. I tried to power it up every few minutes and just decided it had met its maker. Before I started back to the ramp about 2 hours later, I tried it and it started up like a brand new unit. I know how aggravating gremlin electronic problems can be. I was just about to the point of hoping it was dead and I would need to try to find a replacement for it.
Anybody have any idea what might be going on? When this all started, I actually got under the console and rewired all my electronics power circuits so I don't think it is losing power from the panel. I was wishing I had a volt/ohm meter in the boat so I could check the power input.
Anybody got one laying around that still works good and would consider selling? I only need the head unit.
