saturday and sunday
Fished a couple small lakes this weekend with good results. We cleaned 32 Saturday and 27 today, nothing special just good eaters. Most were caught in 15 to 20 feet of water over brush piles. Caught tons of shorts, beautiful weather and good friends. Seemed best bite on 1 1/2" stingers in glow chart and shad colors. Off tomorrow but good chance of rain, hope to squeeze one more trip in before I gotta go back to work.

looks like some fresh fried crappies in the near future

Glad you found crappie ready for the frying pan. We need to harvest the lakes do not want them to be over populated and stunned. Going with LBM tomorrow to Hillsdale Lake, going to try and do my duty in keeping the numbers down.

I found a lake for you then Ron. Fished woods on county lake this afternoon, 100 crappie, 2 bass, and 1 bluegill. I brought home 11 big enough to clean. Had a good visit with the area lake biologist before I left the lake. He is a really nice guy with good ideas and spent 2 weeks this summer sinking brush piles for us. Most of the crappie today were 6 to 7" range, mainly used 2" stingers today, color didn't matter.

Very seldom get down in your part of the state to fish. Fished Toronto Lake, the river, Walnut Creek and Woodson Lake, but not this year. Love the bite we got at Walnut Creek, big fish and struck the jigs with a thump. We normally stay in Yates Center for the night it a very long day to fish and go home.

Their are a lot of small fish making up most of the crappie population at Toronto right now. I fished the creektwo weekends ago and caught around 30 crappie and brought home 8. I think the lake will be back to usual in another year or two.
