Crank baits 9/2 Lake of the Ozarks

Started about 8 a.m. and kept 26. Firetiger was by far the most popular color.

when you hook a crappie do you stop all forward propulsion? Seems like they get off pretty easily. I havent done it a lot but always stop to land the fish.

Great catch! Have never used the Firetiger Bandit 300, but I know they work well for others a lot of the time. I usually prefer a lighter color crankbait.
When I am fishing alone, I will almost never shift to neutral but may turn the boat a bit in the direction to the side where the rod is. That slows the retrieve of getting the fish in. (and you can reel in a crappie so much faster than a bass, hybrid, catfish----always say that when reeling in a crappie is that it is 'waterskiing'--with treble hooks on a crankbait the crappies seldom get off...and when you reel fast enough the slab will be brought in like a frisbee)
When someone is fishing with me, I will usually shift to neutral-----would rather me lose a fish than having someone else lose one!

In my experience the longer a crappie stays under the water the higher chance it gets off. Get them skiing on the water, keep motor engaged, lift rid tip at the last moment to slide into the net and start watching the line counter as it gets back out.

All of this changes as you fish with different people or children.
