Well, I am off
I board a plane to Oregon at 6AM Tuesday morning for a week of North Pacific Ocean fishing. I will be joined by my good friend, Rick, from Florida. We will meet Joe, another longtime friend who introduced me to crappie fishing trolling Hal Flys and Harvey Wolfe who, along with Joe, live on the Oregon coast.
This is my first trip in several years and my very first time to fish in the ocean. We had previously fished in the Siletz River, where Harvey's house is located, for sea run King Salmon. A severe drop off of salmon runs caused the DNR to close river fishing for several years. Joe and Harvey started fishing the ocean for Tuna, Coho Salmon, Ling Cod and other species. This will be a learning experience for me.
I have never been seasick on the east coast, but that ocean is so rough I got a prescription for seasickness just in case.
Here are a couple of pics from our last vist. The top picture is one of Rick's King Salmon. The boat picture is Joe, Harvey(driving) and me. We were trolling herring in the Siltez. As you can tell from the clothing, it is much colder out there. Highs right now in the 60s and lows in the 50s. You couple that with fog and overcast and wind blowing off a 54 degree ocean and it is a cold 60 degrees.

Looking forward to seeing the guys. Not a big fan of flying, did too much when I was working, but it is too far to drive. I will try to post an update when I can.
