gone fishin, I would not know the answer to your question. Maybe the HB guys will get on here and comment. I have 1500hrs. on my 998c SI and the only thing I've noticed is the keypad is getting a little funky. Have to play a little with the power button to get it to turn off. I will say I make a lot of adjustments as I fish so the key pad has been used a lot.
Yeah my old 997 has same issue , have to hold off button longer than normal sometimes.
I don't know but I see a lot on sale at Bassboatcentral with 1000 to 1500 and they go quick. This is just my opinion, Humminbird now charges close to 500.00 flat fee to fix one. So if buying a pair I would factor that on one unit into the price then figure if it would be worth it verses buying new.
Depends on how they were taken care of but serial number will tell you age of unit.
Wow $500, I thought it was around $290 for repair?
998c si 289.45 repair fee, 997 is like 423 or something I just looked it up
+1 Here is a link to the flat rate repair charges http://www.humminbird.com/Category/S...AQ/RepairFees/
The 998 is a great unit....the 999 has problems with the 800Khz and 83Khz....I'd go with the 998 if price right.....and stick with the 6.49 software unless you really need it for some accessory.
6.49 was probably the best software I had in my 998, but then I purchased a 360 with the HS receiver.
Thanks... good info. Y'all know yer lectronics
