Cold East Winds?? does it matter?

This one is for the guides & pro's (Jerry,Darryl or Jason...etc.);

I didn't go fish today, because of the east wind & cold. I know that crappie like it cold, but do any of you guys ever notice a drop in action because of a hard east or northeast wind? A hard wind sure makes it difficult to navigate, but the "wind from east fish bite least" thing; I would like to know if you guys have some experience on this. Also, do you hit spots that are warmer / colder this time of year, i.e. north banks, sunny flats, or shady coves? I'm taking it easy today, working on my camping trailer, & getting ready to camp soon. I thought I would post this to get some thoughts for unfamiliar waters. Also, any advice when surface water temps are 45,50,60? Thanks.:confused:

Don't know any of the answers to your questions. I just go when I can! Went duck huntin this mornin at Brodie Bend. You ever fish around there? I keep sayin I'm gonna crappie fish there but never have.

East winds are often associated with a rising barometer and that combination does seem to make them less aggressive. When the water temps are falling this time of year they seem to be more aggressive than when it is stable or rising. In early Spring before the spawn it's just the opposite - they get more aggressive when the water temps are rising.

When a cold front passes through anytime of year it can slow them down for a day or two but when it brings cooler temperatures in the Fall it doesn't seem to bother them quite as much.

I think most crappie eat something nearly every day but they definitely have a better appetite some days than others. When they get a bit finicky I tend to fish deeper, slower, tighter to the cover and use smaller bait/jigs.

I have found some nasty days with an east wind have produced well for me, others not so well. Words to live by: You just never know!
Give me a choice light sw wind or gusty east wind I'll take the first.
On Beaver durring those nasty situations I'll usualy be on fish every where I go but may only find one spot where they will bite. I may hit 15 plus spots on a bad day. Never give up until your loading the boat!

Thanks for the information. That east wind this weekend was too much of a deterrant for me to even want to try. I decided to stay indoors & watch the hogs fold up like a 1eggpuddin'. I will probably try to fish next weekend, if it's possible. I just have a hard time in that dang wind. It cuts through me, but mostly makes boat navigation real difficult for me.

I haven't fished Jordan Brake, mostly because I'm new to the Scott/England area, (only lived here 3 yrs). I will be trying it out though. I have a friend that has lived here his whole life, & I'm sure he's been on that lake. I've only been on the river @ brodie bend a couple of times, and it's been a couple of years.

One thing I failed to mention earlier is that we place condos in different areas that are protected from different wind directions so we usually have somewhere to fish that is at least somewhat protected from any wind direction and that helps a lot.
