Vertical jig setup

We use electronics for summ winter jigging. Deep water.

I use 40 lb braid with sampo swivel and a 4 ft Segar cloro leader 25 lbs with 2 jigs.

NO TWIST
And great feeling.

I use something similar for deep water-just on a little lighter scale.

Use to use small but there is no advantage.

And if I get hung can straighten hooks

I prefer spinning tackle and lighter line. I use a 6lb mono main line and a 4lb mono leader tied to a barrel swivel. I usually fish tandem 1/32oz jigs with #6 hooks. Most of the time I can straighten these with a steady pull, even with the 4lb leader. If I do break off, I keep plenty of pre-tied rigs on hand. All I have to do is re-tie to the barrel swivel with an improved clinch.

Another thing I do is to mark my depth with a string bobber stop. It's faster and easier than stripping out line, and easier to see than marking with a magic marker.

Cant imagine using anything the heavy tackle, would think you would be draggin up half the pile everytime you get hung, then youd be off to another brushpile, i prefer single jig 1/4 when in thick cover and maybe 2 1/8 ounce when not in the thick stuff) on 10lb braid in stained water. if its not I use low vis green in 6 or 8 lb. usually with loopnots for each jig, curious mountain fork if the bobber stop would also help when counting down on cast and drag? Take temper out of the hook at the bend.
Will straighten out every time

I've used it on cast and drag before, but even with the tag ends trimmed short, it interfers with casting too much to suit me, and the trimmed stop wasn't very visible past 20'.
