Humminbird 99 series 800 Khz possible fix.

I know the 899 users who upgraded to the HDSI have been dissatisfied because of the issues with the SI 800Khz.
I think this has also been an issue with other 99 series units.

Here is a copy of a post on another forum.......Now if they would just fix that dang 83 Khz issue.... Sharon is in Humminbird customer service. If I had a 99 series unit with this problem, I would definitely be giving them a call while the unit is in warranty:

I spoke to Sharon Bates today. The 800khz issue on the 899 is both a software and a hardware issue that they can now fix. She is sending me a shipping label in the mail that will not expire before I intend to send my units in by the end of September. She told me turnaround is 3-5 days. Call the service number and ask for her by name. 1800 633-1468

So does this problem exist with every 899? Because that is what I have. I have not noticed a problem with mine. Maybe I dont know enuf about em to know something isnt working properly, but sure dont wanna miss out on something if they are replacing stuff and if its limited time offers. Got my unit in March.

Do you have the HDSI transducer or the standard transducer?

Do you use 800Khz?

I have the transducer that came with the unit. It has side imaging. I didnt know there were others available? I Believe I run mine most of the time on the 455Khz but think I have the 800Khz option If I knew how to use it lol.

The standard transducer does not support 800 Khz.......You only have 800Khz if you upgrade to the HDSI transducer.

If it were me, I probably wouldn't do that now. If you do it before installing the transducer, HB will exchange it for a small upgrade fee.

Watch the classifieds in all the electronic forums...

HDSI xducers show up from time to time for sale...

It's the same XHS 9 HDSI 180 T that's been available since the beginning of the introduction of the HDSI xducer...

So if you were me you would just stay what I have? I think I am satisfied with what Im seeing on my graph, but may just be cuz I dont know what im missing by not ever seeing a 800khz image. lol

I have an 899 and the HD Transducer. My 800 kHz has the wash out and I have no clue what the 800 si would look like when working properly. I have done very well using the 455 but I will send my unit in because I want it to be 100 percent of what I purchased. I may not use the 800 si but I am sure that I will sell this unit in less than a year and I would want it to be in good working order for who ever would buy it. I am looking forward to using it in 800 kHz to see if it is any better. This past spring I was killing the big Gills and shell crackers out of Center Hill and Laurel Hill Lake. I found the beds with the si and could see the fish in the beds. I don't know if having 800 kHz could make my fishing any better but I would like to find out.

not knowing is a grade above forgetting how.

Got my 899 back today from Humminbird. They were supposed to fix the wash out problem with the 800 kHz. Well in simulator mode it is still same. But guess I need to get it on the water to check real world.
