Best trip ever
Best trip with my kids that is. Took 15watt and 10watt to Black Bayou in Monroe this morning for some pole bending bream action. Only got to fish about two hrs, that was about as long as I could keep them interested.
Got on the water about 10 am. We hadn't been fishing ten minutes when Mckenzlie hollers I got one. I turn around just in time to see the line straight out the end of the pole and then snap, prolly a bass or catfish. Retie her line and set drag proper for any future action and give it back to her.
Just a few minutes later she's hollering again, she gets him this time, big ole titty bream. I couldn't be prouder. She proceeds to catch four of the next five fish. While I'm super happy I'm starting to get concerned as well. She's laying a butt whoopin on her daddy. Thankfully before i have to start front ending her i start picking up a few...
Jaythan picked up a fish or two but he was done with it pretty quick, too busy drinkin yoohoos and trying to pick up Lilly pads.
All in all it was a good day with the kids harassing some gills. I still remember catching my first fish with my parents thirty years ago. A big ole orange breasted bream fishing out of the back of the boat in pawpaw brake.
I'm thankfull now to get to remake those memories with my kids. If you've got kids you better spend time with them cause tomorrow they'll have kids of their own!

Great report and you are right about taking the kids, now my grandkids have gotten almost too old to go with me. By the way, I noticed the kitty cats were real interested in what y'all had on the tailgate.

Excellent post Jimmy, nice gills there.

Great post. miss those days. My boys still talk about past trips when they were young. Nothing like making memories.

Good daddy! I remember taking mine, just about like your two there. My daughter is now 17 and it's not cool to hang out with Dad anymore. My son is 14 now and football practice takes up his weekday summer mornings and he mows yards & washes cars in his spare time. Neither one goes fishing with me very often, BUT that leaves me plenty of time to take my dad, who always took me when I was little. I remember that aluminum boat seat would get so hot you couldn't move from where you were sitting or it would literally burn your bottom. AND, I also remember having all the Jolly Pops or RCs drank up before it ever even got hot. Hey, that's kids though. Nice post. GTT

This is what its all about!!!! Not the secret spot!! Not the secret bait!! Not fussing over why you dont tell anyone where you fishing!! its all about the kids or that is what it should be about!! Alot of us lose sight of whats important and sometimes it is to late when we realize that!!! AWESOME CATCH!! And congrats on being a AWESOME dad!!!!
