Murray Afternoon Report 7/28/14
Well it's the time of year when it's almost too hot to fish, but with a free afternoon yesterday I just had to try my luck. Lucky for me, the wind was howling. As aggravating as it was to hold the boat in place, it made the temperatures bearable. I didn't even break a sweat. I started fishing at 6 PM and fished till dusk. The first few spots I hit produced a few fish right off the bat. The later in the evening it got the fishing slowed down. I feel like this was due more to the locations I was fishing and less about the time of day.
I fished stickups and woody cover with the jig pole the entire trip. The depth of water I fished was anywhere from 5-12 FOW. Biggest fish came from two logs in 5 FOW. Did not get a water temperature reading but this weekend it was upper 80s. It's always surprising to me how shallow I find fish in the heat of the summer. Best color was a solid yellow fish stalker jig with a black flake paired with a 1/32nd oz jig. All in all it was a great afternoon trip with a total of 10 fish being boated. All were released to swim another day.
