They do not float Bob. I am getting some hits on a tube on the bottom fished Carolina Rig style. I have been cutting apart styrofoam floats and wedging it in to the tube bait. Floating jigheads are ok, but I want to just float a #4 hook with a tube on it so the fish can inhale it easier. I will be a dangerous cat on the water if I can get some real floating tube baits.

Ship, if you have a couple 1" twister tails you can slice the bodies into pieces about 1/16" thick....like you'd slice a hotdog. Carefully insert the slice of body into the back portion of the tube hollow, just until the back edge of the slice and the tube body are flush with each other. The tap a tiny bit of super glue on the two. You'll create a hollow that's sealed and will float your jig.

They have some little walleye floats at BPS just made for that......you can run your line thru them and float a bait like a hook and red worm or you can put it inside of a tube jig. I have been useing them for years.

Run to a fabric store and get a couple square inches of foam padding. Use a razor blade to cut this into strips the approximate size of the inside of a tube and slip the strips inside. Hooks will run right thru it and it will help prevent tearing since it supports the tube from inside.
Mike they do make a ball out of Styrofoam for steelhead fishing they are very small and will fit up inside skirt all see if I cannot find some and send them to you they do have a small hole that you can stick the hook through all see if I can't find some and post a picture of what I'm talking about I think that is what you're wanting to do something that will race that skirt up high ?.
