Flathead help
hey fellas, we are gonna be camping at Truman lake next week for a couple 3 days. w re gonna fish for crappie, wht bass and chase some jugs around for blues and chnl cats. I really wanna catch some flatheads. ive caught a few, mostly by accident tho. so my question is, what are some good methods to catch them? I have no trouble getting blue gill, perch or goldfish, just need some good methods and what type of structure to look for. thanks for any and all help

My best luck for flat heads has been in the rivers in creeks but with open water nearby with some flats. If you can locate a creek bed with something to tie off to, run a trot line parallel right down the middle of it. If there is nothing to tie to, then anchor your jugs to help keep the jugs in the zone. Black perch has always been a go to bait for me, but success with tree frogs, crayfish, is doable. Good luck and report back on your trip!

I look for creek or river channels through shallow flats with cover to find Flatheads here.
