Installing 2 Fish Finders - Best one up front or on steering console?

Hey folks.. hope everyone has had a good tug on the line lately..

Meanwhile, I have a question.

Just bought a used bass boat. I have a new Elite 7 HDI and a couple of lower
end Humminbirds and a low end Eagle. Now I have to decide where to install the
Elite 7 with down imaging... up on the trolling motor or on the steering console?

I know it will depend on how much electronic 'prospecting' I do with the big
motor verses the trolling motor but I thought I would ask cause maybe some of
you have been down this road before and the answer is actually easier than
it seems?

I have a beginning knowledge of the lake I am going to concentrate on (Eldorado)
so I have basic knowledge of stumps and shallow hazards to avoid (Eldorado has
plenty) so ...maybe I can put the down imaging on the trolling motor?.. or maybe
not....or.. or... Help?

It's a personal preference on where/which one to locate where. I have a HDS 8 on the console and a HB up front on the TM. HB on the TM as it fits the Terrova shaft. I can rotate the 8 on the ram mount and see it from anywhere on the boat,

Personally I'd put the better unit on the console. JMO.

It all depends on how you plan to fish. If you're a jigging/casting from the front deck kind of guy, I'd put it up front. If you like to troll and do most of your work from the back of the boat (that's me) I'd put it in back. I can read my structure scan at the console along with my gps maps easily from the back of the boat, and I just have a cheaper bird at the front hooked up to my TM, just to see depth and fish at the front.

Nice on the console and cheap up front . I prospect from the console the toss a market buoy to mark. Then ease in with the trolling motor. Currently I don't even have a finder on the front. It's in the makings for early next year.

Attachment 168907I went through this question last year and I got the same answer- "your fishing preference" but I ended up (with advice from these guys) putting my better one up front. I have the HDS 7 and 5, so I planned to swap it out if I wanted to, but been on there 1.5 years and never swapped them. I spend most time up front when I want a little better picture.
