I bought a used boat out of state. So I will have to remove the numbers and letters from the fiberglass. Anybody got any slick tricks so I don't bugger up the side of my boat?

Heat gun works very well, hair dryer will do in a pinch but the heat gun is quicker.
Just be careful and don't overheat that glass. Run it over the decal holding it back some. Once you get it started just apply a little as you go and peel slowly. Bug and tar remover works pretty good getting residue off.
We took what seems like dozens of decals off our boat when we bought it last fall. Hair dryer worked great and I got the residue off with a little Goo Gone.
I agree with the heat gun but go slowly and don't let it get too hot.
Great. I have a heat gun. Thanks!
Used mine on low, never needed the high setting to get them off my hull. Took em off the truck while I was at it, no more folks asking me about sprinkler systems now!!:Rofl
