Has anyone ever been to sugarloaf lake? Got the day off tommorow and I'm looking for somewhere to go close to my area (van buren). I saw online where it does have crappie just wondering if anyone on the site has actually been in person.

I've caught a few there, it is a deep clear lake with a lot of standing timber. Depending on lake level, the tops of the timber may not be visible. Good luck
I haven't been this year. I have used some baits with success. But it will be hard to get them this quick. Crappie nibbles, chart. Color and minnows would be a quick fix. And or blue and Clear plastics with sparkle. Lots of submerged timber. I usually slow troll with two rods and keep them in your hands, slowly working them up and down, and if you feel a bite just let the bait fall way back and give them a second chance. About 8 foot to 15 foot deep. Go to the left towards the dam and the second to last dock on north side and go to south. I think there is 3 pine trees real close to each other and troll back and forth. You might bend your hooks to lessen the temper. You will get hung up. And they are heavy pressured so light line, I use 4 lb. and one fish per tree usually normal. Or find a tree to tie to and drop minnows down and try that.

With a report like that, how can you go wrong?
