Sardis Lake , MS 6/30/14
Wife and I went camping at Sardis Lake, Ms for a few days and I hired a well known guide and MS State Champion, John Harrison for a morning trip. I wanted to learn more about spider rigging and pulling crankbaits. didn't catch many, as we had a torrential rain the day before. The lake came up 7 inches in 24 hours. We ended up with only 8, but they were nice fish, by our standards. Sardis Lake has a 15 fish limit, with a 11 " minimum size limit. We caught some spider rigging, pulling cranks and a few jigging a brush pile. Wind was very strong. Felt like I was in the gulf.
John had a total of 15 rods in the boat. 6 for spider rigging. 6 for trolling. and 3 jig poles. And they never got tangled up! Sardis Lake limits 3 rods per man .
We stayed 3 nights, then started home, but stopped in Poverty Point State Park in Delhi for 2 nights. The check in manager said how the catfish were really biting. I had a small ultralight rod in the RV so I went to the launch that evening to try my luck. I didn't have any bait, so I used some leftover fried chicken. Catfish are not particular. I caught 7 small cats in about an hour and a half. They must have a lot of catfish in that lake.
Had a great time and hope to go back to Grenada Lake in the spring. I highly recommend John Harrison if you want to book a fishing trip. Here are a few pics.
