Salamonie???
My fishing buddy recently lost his wife, while he was recovering from a knee replacement. He's done with physical therapy now and I'm anxious to get him back on the water and enjoying life again.
We usually go to Salamonie and I don't see much talk of it on here. Last word I heard was the blue/green algae crisis was back and a lot of debris floating around.
Can anyone give me a current update on Sally, so I can get him out there this week?

I haven't been able to go for a while now, but I think the blue/green algae thing gets over hyped. With all this rain we have had and the cooler air temps I wouldn't think it to be too bad. The debris shouldn't be too bad either, if you do start seeing debris on the main lake just slow down and take your time out there and all will be well.

we caught some nice crappie about 3 weeks ago, fish were really shallow, but the water was up a bit. I was surprised at how shallow they were. That was june 21. Water should be back down, and cleaner than then.

Was out there Sat. caught a few, before all the power boats kept blowing by; water had a green blobby looking algae floating in it.

Update....got him out there last Friday. Things started slowly for the first hour and a half....3 caught, no keepers. Got him on a good spot and he was pulling them in pretty well. About 18 keepers right at 10 or 10 1/2 inches. In the midst of the action, we get a visit from the COs. We were legal, but when they left the bite was off. Moved to another spot and my buddy started tearing them up again. The powerboats began showing up (waves are not good for my buddy's back) in big numbers. I made one last cast and pulled in a 15"er. We were both shocked, didn't know there were slabs like that in there. We are both champing at the bit to get back out there!

Salamonie holds good fish, but you tend to weed through a lot of small ones in the summer. I was finding crappie a week ago in about 10ft of water over 15-25 ft of water. Huge schools of fish actually.

Same circumstances we caught ours in!
