Which rod holder do you guys prefer on your yak? I haven't gotten a yak yet but I would think that whatever ones preference is it would work form one yak to another. Am I wrong in thinking this? A pic would help me if you don't mind. Thank You.

depend on the kayak and the ability to mount to it flush mount or edge mount and so on. there are two different style also check out ram mount every one i know is buying those. i even got the ram mount fish finder mount for my canoe for my transducer. i got to re build it for a tite-lock rod holder so it can be removed. i use tite-locks in my canoe i got a set of pontoons mounted to two those with two rod holders on them. i just thumb screw them to the thwart of the canoe.... then i got a motor mount front and rear one form bass pro the other from old town. a small 2.5 hp motor weights about 40 lbs... for the anchor i use a 10 pound plate weight lifting weight. i use it as a anchor from wally world i got for $8.97 beats the 30+tax they wanted for the 10 lbs mushroom river anchor. but ya it depend on the mounting style you choose flush mounts can mount on the surface like ram mounts or you got to use a hole saw to mount it. this all just depends on what you buy. some kayaks even have a rail system to mount them too so don't buy them till you got your yak. :twocents this is cause you never will know what will be on it till you buy it . i hear the tarpon angler 12 and or 14 foot has a track system for it but like i said don't buy till you own the yak...
Gonna use the rod holders while paddling or fishing with multiple poles? Look thru the yak forum for pictures of how people rigged theirs up, and google for other yak forums, tons of pics and threads about rigging yaks for different styles of fishing.
that's a good point to about searching. here is a link to ram mount mounts they even have a mount for spider rigging... all you got to do is scroll down when you click on this link...
RAM Kayak Mounts
For transport, I use wise rod tender (twin pack) which I mount 3 of them to my milk crate (using zipties). My fourth rod lays in between my legs. My current kayak also has 2 flush mounts which I sometimes use, however I often fish under overhanging branches and much prefer my rods to be held parallel to the water.
For spider rigging I would look at something like spyderlock/hi-teck/bee ready etc.
Mine came with one Scotty rod holder in the front, a pair of tubes in the rear. I bought another paddle today for the third yak and a pair of Scottys.
I have seen in videos and still pics where yak fisherman had their rods hooked to cords to keep them from being yanked overboard. Is there a certain place to get these. Are do you just make your own any way you can?
Small bungie cord is hard to find except in kits or items ready made. I'd like to find a spool of 1/8" or 3/16" in black so I can buy the amount I need. The largest I could find is white 1/16" at the fabric store. I think walmart has it too.
I bought a few sets of 4 small carabiners for hooking to cords to the yak at the fleamarket in the banana boxes for $1. Some of the cords have a carabiner on each end for cooler and tackle packs.
