Some pretty good info on cranking

I saw this article which many of you may have already read but I thought I would post it.The info about staggering your line lengths to keep from tangling on a turn was pretty interesting! Also lure color selection! http://www.bnmpoles.com/News.aspx?showarticle=95

I been staggering my lines since I started but I do it the opposite from that, short pole has the short line and longest pole has the longest line. To me it makes working a fesh in a whole lot easier, don't have to cross lines because everything between it and the boat is gonna be shorter than the one with a fesh on it. Works either way I guess but why not run the long line on the inside on a planer board set up if its the best way to do it, same concept?

Thanks for the find, good info but I agree with Rees.

I am not sure who it was that told me to do it the way I do but it came from the MS board 3 summers ago when I was learning. I really enjoy seeing what others do tho, most of the time I end up tweeking something I have been doing when I fish with someone else, what learning is all about.

I agree with the trial and error method of learning. I try everything at least once. If I get a good result---lesson learned. If I don't---forget it. :)

Thank you for the post. I started to comment that I re-learn the same lesson each time I go out it seems. Proably jinx myself but I seemed to have finally learned to put the drain plug in before I launch. I buy minnow dipnets by the gross however. :Rofl

Oh yea. Thanks for the article from B&M good info.

I guess I have a "man crush" on Kent Driscoll because he alone has done more to get me hooked on cranking that anybody else. His videos with Russ Bailey and his articles still have a lot to do with the tactics I use, especially the line-counter reels, trolling plate on the big motor, and the Terrova trolling motor.

Lots of folks here have played a role, a smaller role, but still a role. As I get older I just find out how little I know about lots of things--some good ,some bad.
