Looks to me like they both have their pros and cons. I started with HB, installed Ethernet, now the Link with the MK trolling motor. I really like the 1198 at the console and the 958 on the bow. Big screen, easy to use, good detail and much more, and when Lakemaster includes Barnett on their chip, I'll really be happy. Right now the Nav Platnum card is good.
Someone with Lorance can give u their assessment.
I'm Lowrance and have been for a while. They are great if you like to play around with electronics. But I tell everyone you can pull a HB out of the box, plug it up, set contrast and sensitivity to 65% and never touch it again. If you love your computer =Lowrance. If you have trouble turning one on and getting it to do what you want=HB. Both are incredible compared to just a few years ago. P.S. Go ahead and get the biggest last years model you can find within your budget. Bass Boat Central is a great site to watch for trade-out deals. Carp fishermen swap yearly sometimes.
it. But to me nothing even close to Bills unit. Next one I buy will be the L.
One more try. I have a HB 797, I want one like Bills.
Compare the maps and see which one you like better. I think the Lowrance map covers alot of shallow water areas that are not covered on my HB. Hurts in the spring when you are trying to find those LITTLE ditches in the stump fields
