Crappie - Few, Other Fish - A lot
Shawnh and I had the day off tomorrow and decided to hit the lake early and try the new spider rig setup out. We launched the boat at Dardenelle and got the poles out. Right off the bat we caught a small crappie and we thought it was going to be good. Seemed like the next 50 fish were everything but crappie. Catfish, bass, and drum were all the fish being caught. A nice storm blew up and pushed us to hide under a bridge. While there we caught a few more small crappie and a lot of small catfish. Not sure what I am doing wrong but I sure can't find the crappie. After a failed attempt all morning, we decided to load the boat up and hit Brewer on the way home. Got on Brewer and bam bam, small crappie were caught. These were returned to the lake in hopes of some good eaters. Guess the fish didn't want minnows at the time we were out there. Even though we didn't catch good size crappie, I sure had fun with the new spider rig setup. I will attach a couple of pictures but I warn you the crappie are babies and hopefully they will grow for the next catch. Attachment 166528Attachment 166529
