Today the motor at wide open bogs down just a little, then goes back up, just a little hesitation. bulb is hard new lines last year, think it is bad gas? Transferred 10 gallons from pontoon in May to tanks for the NY boat, it is treated with stabil but left over from winter. did it pretty constant all day long but never stalled.
It could be the gas. Use it up and check again with fresh gas or borrow a tank of fresh gas and give it a try.
Wife went with me with new gas. Got worse instead of better. She ran the motor while I took the cover off to check. Found a little pin hole in gas line right before it went into fuel {DIAPHRAM} pump. Replaced it yesterday and pumped bulb, no leaks. Take it to the lake in the morning. Going to the St Lawrence soon so hope all goes well.Quote:

New fuel line worked like a charm! No leaks, no drips, no errors! I even got my back up gas tank to work. Put a screw in the end that plugs into motor and just kept pumping the bulb about a 100 times til I got gas coming out. It has not been used in a while, there were no leaks, could not here or see any air coming out so I figured it had to work eventfully. Gonna repalace the line and bulb when I get a little CASH! I like the 2nd tank cause it is plastic. The metal one was new in 1986 and is a lot heavier.
If it took that many pumps on the ball to get fuel up either you have a bad ball or an air leak in the hose going to the tank.
FYI a screw will damage the seals in the connector. An Allen wrench will work better.

One interesting note with fuel (especially with external gas tanks). I learned this on a trip to Alaska and then did some research. Boat companies (and fuel can companies) recommend a filter be installed on longer fuel lines. This is a seperate filter that is inside your motor.
If memory serves me right, it is a 30micron filter. I cannot remember the length of hose as recomending a filter for, but it might be a good idea to do it anyway.
Round 2, While on a fishing trip, 2nd day, gas running out of Carb. Thought it was hole in new fuel line but No! Think the float might be stuck. Had Carb cleaned last year so took it to same place. Then the back up 15hp recoil quit re-winding. Started 1st pull rest of the trip every time but had to re-wind by hand so cover was off and it is a little LOUDER when you do that. Slow but beats the heck out of rowing! Took that to the shop also.
