Bad luck at Bucksaw
Wife Jane retired Friday so we have time to do things now. We ran down to Bucksaw yesterday afternoon, figured the weekend crowd would be all headed home. We were right, steady rigs headed north on 7.
Got to Bucksaw and 3 rigs in the lot. AND a big wrecker sitting on the launch part way down the ramp, lights flashing. It was hooked to a red SUV with a boat hooked to it. Driver pulled them to the top. He was wet up to his chest when he got out of the wrecker.
We got the Tracker ready to launch and backed it down, Jane took the truck and trailer up to park it. I'm orbiting in the Tracker waiting for Jane to get to the dock when here came a BIG flat bottom marked "Underwater Recovery" with 4 big inflatable air bags and 2 wet guys in it.
They tell me the 2 guys in the rig the wrecker pulled out were running just past the bridge in the fiberglass boat when they hit a stump and it punched a BIG hole in the bottom of the boat!!! Bet that was a sudden halt.
Turns out the SUV wouldn't start after they got the boat on the trailer and the wrecker was called to get the rig out and take it to Clinton.
Anyhow, we ran toward the bridge, did some fishing, caught 3 crappie. Lake is up. It was a really nice evening to be on the water.

I seen that boat on the bank before the bridge, then later almost underwater with another boat pulling it back towards the marina. It was a very old tri-hull design, probably old and rotten with no supports. Amazing some of the stuff you see folks put on the water just after they bought it, "It runs, lets launch".... without any inspection of it's integrety.

Well thank god nobody was hurt. Boats can be replaced.
