I am totally ignorant about what this is and would like to have a general idea what it's all about. Is a multi frequency transmitter/receiver, where each "ping" is a different frequency, then compiled for a picture? Kinda like three phase electrical wiring, if you know what I mean? Thanks.
CHIRP sonar sweeps the frequency of the signal during the pulse. Rather than staying at a single frequency through the entire pulse time, the frequency may start at 50KHz and increase smoothly to 200KHz. This allows for increased resolution and much better noise rejection. Clearer screens and the ability to separate smaller targets.

Instead of sending just one single frequency, CHIRP sends a continuous sweep of
frequencies ranging from low to high. CHIRP sonar technology then interprets
frequencies individually upon their return. Since this continuous sweep of
frequencies provides CHIRP with a much wider range of information, CHIRP sonar
is able to create a much clearer, higher resolution image.

Got to try out the Sonar Hub with the TM150m transducer. Unfiltered on auto sensitivity. Shows much more that the standard sonar skimmer skimmer transducer.
Those arches are small fish (10" to 16"), but they were hungry.

Wicomico River, Southern Maryland. A small river just of the Potomac. This area is mainly salt water fishing. Striped Bass being the prized fish. A short trip north on the Potomac and it's bass boat country.Quote:
