Anyone tried Draper lately by boat? Can a boat still get in? I tried Hefner last weekend, and it's lucky my boat is light, or I would have never gotten it in and out. Very low at the ramps. What's the fishing like??

Draper is full, shouldnt have a problem at ramp.Lake has a lot of flooded cover might be good fishing.fishing report said catching crappie 3-5 fow and around docks, sand bass on the south end where they pipe the water in .
Like Papascruggs said - Draper is full. I was thinking of going there Monday for a little while just to check out the boat before camp. I was there 2-3 weeks ago right after an identical state fishing report and didn't catch a thing. There are a couple problems with Draper but I think if you can get it figured out you could catch some fish. 1st - the lake was so low for the last few years I don't believe it had any good traditional spawning habitat. 2d - Now with it at full capacity there is 2-3 year growth (brush, willows, etc.) completely encircling the lake. One bush looks just like the next one which is only a foot or so away. I know there are Crappie there but finding them is difficult other than just trolling or strolling and I didn't pick up one doing that. I went to each or the fishing piers and found almost no structure at them with my sidescan. Some of the places I had marked from a few years ago are gone - no brush there. I think it will take some work there to get into some. Now, sand bass will probably be a problem staying out of them.
Having not seen this year the usual crowd of bank fisherman at Tbird and the ones I have seen and talked to expressing their lack of success, I'm wondering if Draper might be a good option for bank fishermen based on the abundant cover surrounding Draper? Just one of my many mindless thoughts that occur during the day!! :dono
I went out there a couple of times.. I fished from the bank with not much luck. There is a lot of brush about 3 to 5 feet out. It makes fishing from the bank a little harder imo.
Don't know. I'm going to hit Wes Watkins tomorrow. Tons of standing timber and very little traffic. Not to mention only a mile from my house. :)
I have been thinking of trying Wes Watkins also. Let us know how it went. I can probably get there just as fast, if not faster, than Thunderbird.
