Minnkota

I have a two year old riptide that has burned up two switches,so I contact minnkota.They start telling me the motor is not made to run on high for long periods,which I don't do but should it matter?I'm not willing to send my motor to be repaired over a $20 switch.Besides how can they put the same switch in a 50lb and a 70lb,don't make sense to me.Their customer service is terrible.

Depends on who who you get when you call(you don't have a choice who you get). One will know Minn Kota backwards, forwards, and upside down. The next one won't know Riptide from Landslide.

All 5 speed switch should not be rated the same. Just to let everybody know don't buy a 5 speed get the digital one.

Minn Kota service is the best. Call the Service Department and ask for Ryan. They will get him.
The answer is design the switch for the 70 and it will be over engineered for the 50.
