results from yesterdays tournament
Hmmmm....... I think I could have held my own lol
Wow those weights sure are low. Tells me that the crappie don't get very big there. All those musky must be eating them!
Buddy I have caught 2 ponders outta there recently. There was a guy that posted one 16" he caught a few weeks ago. I know for a fact a few weeks ago I kept 21 and the biggest 7 would a went 6 to 6 1/2 not huge but not bad either.
I had 25 Monday and any 7 of them would have weighed over 6lbs I couldn't believe those weights when I saw them. I had to help at a benefit where I go to church yesterday or I would have been there. I will have to say that they have been a little tougher the last 2 weeks.
You have to remember ... that tourney was held during a weekend of cold/icy rain, way below avg air temps over the last week, post spawn, and shortly after the lake had been pulled back down from being 6ft over Summer Pool. Not exactly the prime conditions for heavy weigh-in weights. Plus it's a highland reservoir of only a little over 8000 acres ... so it's not going to produce size in numbers like the lowland lakes around West Ky. There is no size limit on Crappie from Cave Run Lake, as the lake isn't very fertile, so growth rates are slow ... as in a 9" fish may be 4 years old.
