Smith on the lights
Crappie are on the dock lights at Smith right now. From dark till about 9-10 ish, then they come back just before dawn. I expect this to be over by the middle of June, so a small window here. Water was already pretty warm and once it gets too warm, they'll be gone till this fall.
Caught a nice mess friday night. Heading back tonight. My favorite type of fishing. Love watching the shadows, and no better quality of fish than on Smith.
Also catching nice flatheads on whole bream.
Spreading the knowledge and trying not to be a "lurker".....lol. Love the site. Good luck to all and God Bless.
Mud.

Kept 10. Probably caught 30. Mostly small ones. I let a lot of 9's go. At least 3 over 16", probably one over 18".
Lots of fun. Lunar calendar shows tomorrow and next wed. as being on fire. I'm gonna rest for a while and try them next week.
Fish on!!!

What part of the lake are you fishing? I have heard that the striped bass are pretty good at night around the lights also. I might try to make a trip down to Smith soon.
Tight Lines.

I put in at swayback and fish the upper end of Rock. There are around 6-7 lights between the launch and the farthest point north.
I've got friends that fish the park and do well but I live in Hartselle and swayback is just closer for me.
PM me, i'm always hunting a partner. Not a lot of people dedicated to the nightfishing life.

Nice report. Those are some monsters. I'm going to be fishing Smith most weekends from now 'til August. I fish Rock Creek exclusively. Are all those lights mentioned up by Swayback underwater lights? I've had a hard time finding any lately. Only know of 3.
