Good eating places around Hemphill
Last week Connie and I took a ride to a new to us restaurant on Texas 21 near the old Bryce's restaurant before the state line. It is on the right hand side by a truck stop/convenience store. It is in a big white building and it's called Big Momma's and well worth the stop. The have a great menu but I wanted their crawfish so I started with 2 pounds. I had a couple of them when I inhaled deeply while sucking the head of a crawfish and down come the spices and I started choking, coughing, hacking, gasping for my breath and scaring everyone in the place. I got settled down and came back out of the boys room and finished eating. I am on two different inhaler that I take twice daily so I can see how I got mixed up but I'll told you dis, it sure wasn't fun even though I was laughing at myself along with others who knew what I had done. Today we went back and I ate 5 pounds of crawfish, 5 potato's, and 1 ear of corn and 2 cups of coffee. Connie likes their shrimp on a skewer and baked potato. It was really good food. They have a great menu but I was wanting the crawfish and will stay with that as long as they have them. We also went by and stopped at Hemphill BBQ on the corner of the cut across road and grabbed 1 pound of brisket and half a chicken and that made us a couple meals here at the house last week. Their BBQ sauce compliments the BBQ and the BBQ is good with or without the sauce and they have pies that are great also.
