Cataract May 1st
The Cataract Slab Masters had their May 1st tourney Thursday and things were cold and windy, mainly windy. We had seven boats and fifteen members. Three new members fished with us for the first time. Even though the conditions were unfavorable the bite was on. Every team weighed in good stringers of seven fish. Indiana Slab Masters' R. Hooser and partners D. Knoy and G. Hooser took 1st place with seven fish that weighed in at 5.844lbs. Yours truly Bigarm and partner T. Ryan place 2nd with a total 4.975lbs. Bigarm and Ryan also had big crappie at 1.29lb. Every team weighed in better than 4lbs of fish. Our next tourney will be next thursday May 8th. We are adding next week and May 22nd to our schedule to make up for 2 tourneys that we missed in April because of weather. We all figured we would be fishing any way. Please consider coming out and fishing with us. We are a very low key tourney, just a bunch of retirees, who don't have to fish on the weekends. Up to 3 contestants in a boat and $10.00 per BOAT. Best 7 fish in weight wins. Indiana laws apply. Check us out at www.cataractslabamsters.com

Sounds like fun. I want to come fish but work most Thursdays. Was the water still high ? what was the most common style of fishing for the day?

Water level was almost normal. Can check lake levels at http://155.80.93.250/wc/reports/lkreport.html Spider rigging was the preferred method. orange/chart jigs with minners and crappie nibbles
