Not Crappie, but trout
I'll be heading to the White River in 3 weeks. never fished it or any other place with trout as far as that goes. not sure if I understand the whole dam generations thing, but I am sure I will learn. I was told by someone at the White Hole Resort we are staying at that they expect a 4-5 gens in morning and falling off through out the day. Not sure what that means, but again I am sure we will figure it out.
Looking forward to it, and the scenery.
Thanks,
Scooter

The White River is a beautiful place. I live about 85 miles down stream of where you are staying. I suggest a yellow rooster tail spinner bait. You will need two different weights, one for less water movement and a heavier one for swift water. Good Luck..roughneck

White Hole is one of my favorite places. Are you gonna be fly fishing or out with a guide?

If you're taking or renting a boat, be careful; the White is sometimes unforgiving. I've been on it a lot, and was there last weekend; my brother and I caught browns from 4 to 6 lbs. But we also saw a sunken boat; the fellows had anchored from the back and swamped. Leave the anchors at home! Use powerbait, corn, worms and minnows for live bait--roostertails, jigs and small crankbaits for artificials. If you can, get a guide the first day--you'll really learn a lot. He shouldn't fish, but will teach you a lot.

thanks guys. Not gonna be fly fishing. not really planning on renting a boat or guide. I have read that bank fishing and wade fishing can be very good especially where we are staying. we will play it buy ear, I am sure that if we cant figure it out we can get a guide pretty easily. I cant wait though!

Bank fishing can be ok. Be careful wading. If they start generating river level can shoot up quick. If you can afford it getting a guide for half or full day is well worth it.
