has anyone been to cheney lately, i hear that there is a sign up that says that you have to be a member in order to fish off the jetty that the boat slips are attached. i can understand the slip owner not wanting non members on the slips but keeping people off the jetty that is lake shore line is just wrong. i think that the marina owner is just trying to make some money cause the last i was out there there was only a few boats in the slips like maybe 3.
Which jetty? The one with the handicap dock, cleaning station, or L shape by the boat ramp? The one by the cleaning station, the lake side of the wall should be public. The backside are to the slips and I could see why they don't want people over there. It gets crazy during the spring spawn.
yes that is the one and yes it does get real crazy. the marina owner has placed a sign over the sign that has been on the gate to the jetty that basically makes it seem as if you can't access the jetty at all unless you are a member. i can understand them not wanting non members on the slips but how can they stop anyone from fishing from the shoreline. that to me and maybe I'm wrong is like saying you can't fish in this area by boat or land unless you are a member. from what i hear they claim to have a lease on the jetty, but in all the years i have fished out there i have never seen this sign out there and have always been able to fish either side of that jetty. does any other lake in kansas have anything like this?
