I'm back on the water, look out Chickahominy Crappie!
First, thanks to eveyone who wished me well and all of the prayers. I am healed from the lung surgery and the docs believe I am cancer free for now. It took a while for the left arm to start working well enough to handle a boat and a rod, but I have been back on the water for 2 weeks. Fortunately, the crappie have been cooperating, when I can find my way through the dozens of bass tournament boats that have been plying the river.
Fishing around flooded cypress with a small float and a BG tiny shad on a 7' Sam Heaton Super sensitive rod (thanks, Wes, for teaching me this trick) has produced several good catches, a mixture of chubby females and smaller bucks. This week I caught several who had turned "black" from hanging out in the shalows around the trees, including a 15" female. All fish were released with a "thank you" so they could complete the spawn.
I hope to be returning to work soon and hope to see everyone out on the river. Look for the marshland camo 1973 Ouachita and say "Hi".
