Nice Looking Jigs. Great Article, thanks for sharing
Nice ties Len. Visibility is the reason I like Chart/Blue/Chart so much. Of course Black works day and night. Blue and Violet are the last 2 colors standing when distance is a max for seeing colors in depths of water all based on crystal clear water the different colors drop out as they get deeper. I suppose they colors that drop out just end up being gray after they reach past their visibility depth. Like Red and Orange and Yellow drops out faster then others, but once you change the regular colors to a Florescent or UV color things change as the FL and UV colors and their visibility.
Just for reference I really like the Copenhagen Blue Chenille or if Crystal the one that they call just Blue.
Over the years I have enjoyed painting jig heads and especially adding eyes to them I thought it always made a better looking Jig and they stand out a little bit better.
in the past years I've worked with many different materials to find out which is the best found out that the fish could be very finicky and different materials at times work better than others and we are still trying new materials all the time to see which is better I don't have any special preference except for the exception of marabou it is one of my favorites.
I believe that trial and error over the years has taught me very much and we are still learning a lot from this post and your never too old to learn so tying up jigs is very creative and can be a lot of fun the sky is the limit .
some of my jigs may not look pretty to to the human eye but they may look pretty good to the fish in that is what really matters if you come up with the pattern that is an knocked out and will put fish into the bucket.
so guys be creative and try out whatever comes to your mind and please let us all know how they work out for you or always interested in seeing different things on post here.
Those are some nice ties!
Done my own field testing... For sure there are times head color makes all the difference!
very nice, love the look of the black and chartreuse with big chartreuse eye
Nice ties
those are nice and thanks for linking the article.
Good article, read some and bookmarked it. Not sure I agree with everything but I like to see the four corners.
I use a few of the combos. The org/chrt n blck/chrt are staples here. But they all look like winners to me. Beautifully tied too. Looks like an arsenal for any condition. Great jigs.
As far as visibility of colors go, put em on their nose and they'll bite it. Pulling it by em may be a diff story.
