Jig body on usually, but some guys put the minnow on a bare lead head jig instead of using a weight.
Most of the time with body on. I push pony heads most of the time and have found days where they will tear up a painted head with minnow and won't touch one with body.
tipping crappie jigs with a small piece of nightcrawler works well too.
I like to tip a jig with a nib if I'm single pole fishing and use a small minnow with skirt on if I'm trolling.
I have done it both ways.
A 4th Place Finish on Eufaula 2 weeks ago during the Tournament was achieved by spider rigging jigs tipped with minnow. At that time the water clarity was about 3" and I wanted a bigger bait presentation. I used the Crappie Pro Wasshoppa in Blue/White and Blk/Pearl 1 3/4" jig body and tipped them with a minnow. In dirty water I find a bigger bait promotes more bites.......Ranger
Good information, Guys...Thanks!
Im with you Ranger, Not only more but more Quality bites as well. IMO
I use to be religous with the nibbles but have found that if the bite is on not sure it makes a huge difference.. May also have something to do with me using bigger baits though.
