About a foot above summer pool. Mid 40's over the weekend but may warm up a bit with the sunny days. DNR has been netting walleye so water temps are in the 45 degree range.
I have to ask why the DNR is netting them? is it to milk them for breeding? if so I would think that would be done in a more controlled way
I fished Brookville Lake over the weekend and it's a muddy mess.
Tom they use them for breeding purposes , the DNR has a facility around the Mounds beach area that they take them back to and do there thing then return them to the water. Had a buddy go out with them a few years ago and help with the collection there is some nice walleye in Brookville and they catch an occasional musky in there as well.
Seems to be a common theme with the muddy water. Hopefully some consistent sun will clear and warm the water up.
i like muddy water...guess thats what happens when your baptized in it.
Muddy water aint so bad, you just gotta learn how to fish it. Cold muddy is much harder to learn than warm muddy.
What is your favorite bait in muddy water? You like to go dark jigs? What about live bait?
What's the chance of a top-water bite with a dry fly if the water is muddy? I'd really like to be using my fly rod, so far all I know to do in muddy water is jig fish, and that's not been working out so well for me. Although, I am planning to try out a new technique which involves my fly rod and an ultralight reel. Fingers are crossed. :)
Hit Brookville today. Temps on north end of the lake at 2:30 were 60 on main lake and 61.7 in shallow coves. Not much luck fishing managed 4 whites long lineing in 19 ft of water. Tried minnows shallow in the morning and no luck along banks then switched to the long lineing about 11:30. Caught several White Bass while LLing. Must have had a bass tourney there guys were 20 min fishing and run-n-gunning everywhere. CO's were out too patrolling. Still had fun even though white capping.
