A Crappie.com tournament??

Just wanted to know why there isn't one? Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like a terrific idea with the active members we have here. What I could see would be a $10 pay in, with that money order a ruler for everyone (cheap produced rulers with crappie.com logo on them) and have each participant send in their fish pictures. Winner could get 1/10 of the earnings, a charity another 1/10 and the rest of the profits would run straight to Crappie.com. I'm sure there's a reason why this isn't being done, just figured I'd throw it out there. Thanks for your time!

The different states here at C.C have tournaments and fruit jars....take a look around the state boards....a lot of them have one per month....most of them are 100% payout to the winners.

I've never caught a Crappie in AL, and only One in my whole life.
I might enter a tournament if it was close to me and didn't cost too much.

If you're talking about an online tournament, we have had them. Pretty much every time someone submitted an entry, the rules were not followed. And when a winner was selected, some members thought the one selected was not bigger than theirs, and so on and so on. When it's a public contest, there are lots of judges, and slightly bending rules or not being exact in the angle of the photo creates complaints. Especially when there is money involved. I'd rather have objective photo contests and give away sponsors prizes free.

And as G said, real life "at the launch" fruit jar type tournaments are held all over. Organized by members. Check in your state.

It would be great to have an online tournament. However the fish in my lake are dinks in Southern states. Around here an 11-12" Crappie is a really nice fish and really rare. Kentucky Lake and further south, 12" is a dink. The size advantage goes to the southern states. Even in Illinois, you get up around the Chicago area and a 9" Crappie is a good size fish. The logistics of a fair competition by size is tough to overcome. There are ways to do it, however they are not easy to implement or control. Good idea though.

I'd like to see some sort of competition at each of the state events.
