Was I wrong

I fished three days in a row last week. The first day, I saw a catfish hanging from a "fishing device". His head was out of the water, but he was breathing. Saw him again, suffering the next day. On the third day, I took a chance on getting shot and released him.

While on the subject and not trying to stir up anyone... When fishermen mark fishing devices with orange survey tape, is that litter, or does it become litter when they remove the device, but leave the tape? I really don't enjoy looking down a beautiful cypress tree bank and see that orange tape whipping in the breeze. But maybe that is just me.

you did the right thing and it is not offensive...I might have stolennonono the catfish and claimed it as my own...wouldn't go to heaven for that.......nonono

I would have done the same thing. Like you I hate to see all that garbage tied to the trees and just left to weather. Ought to be rules about that to.

On Saline Lake in Winnfield, there is a 4-6 month period every year that you can go out and see bones hanging on different devices. There's nothing can be done as long as it's legal, so the people round here try not to worry about it. It used to bother me, but that's just the way it is. Not worth starting an arguement.

True and like

Like anything else the bad shines a lot brighter than the good. I don't fish them but they don't bother me and most who fish them do it right.

Interesting! Here, Fishing regs require all bank lines, trot lines, traps, etc be identified with name and address of the person setting them out.
